137 Squadron in France
137 landed in Normandy just in time to play a role in the Battle of the Falaise Gap.  This involved attacks on the retreating German troops and was one of the most brutal battles to take place on the Western Front.  The Typhoons destroyed large numbers of German transport.  Nazi resistance in Normany was effectively ended by this action.

The enemy troops retreated so fast that the Typhoons had to keep changing airfields in order to remain within range.  137 changed arifields three times within ten days and groundcrews were often on the move to keep up with advancing front.
