137 Squadron had a brief existence but is distinguished by a number of significant achievements. I believe these include being one of only two squadrons to use the Whirlwind F-B in combat, the first rocket-firing Hurricane squadron, one of only three operating 40mm cannon armed Hurricane squadron in the ETO and is the highest scoring Typhoon squadron in the V1 battle. 137 operations can be divided into three main aspects: Channel Stop, Rhubarbs and the advance to Germany. The squadron operated three types of fighter-bomber aircraft: Whirlwinds, Hurricanes and Typhoons.
